Psalm 23- The Walk

My Shepherd knows me. He chose me. He left them for me. He leads me beside the quiet waters, walking with me. hand in hand. He protects me. My eyes are gazed upon His, not noticing the chaos and distress around. With Him, life isn’t just peaceful, it’s lovely. The thrill and excitement burn in my heart because I get to know Love. I sit with Him. We know each other well.  I learn from Him.  We laugh and talk. Little am I aware of the restoration and beautification that I am receiving in His presence. I’m not doing anything. Just being with Him is changing me. As He walks a little in front leading the way, I am comforted by His guidance. The path we walk along is right. It’s good. It’s where He walks. I walk because He is there. Outwards we walk lower, still in the greenest of pastures, but descending into the valley of shadows. the valley of death. though, I fear no evil. For He is with me. As my Shepherd’s rod extends, death turns. Still locking eyes, I find full comfort in His ways. His staff supports me. I lean against the grainy wood and find security in the protection I get from being His.

You ask to dine with me. As You work to prepare the finest table and feast, my enemies surround. But they cannot budge, our divine appointment is set apart. The oil you anoint my head with fills me with something greater. It fills me with Your fumigating Spirit. No longer are You just beside me, but also in me. The cup I drink from is overflowing with love, adoration, and might from who You are. Because I follow You, goodness and mercy must follow me. Not just now, but always. For I will never leave You. You have never left me. I will dwell. I will abide. I will sit in the secret place of Your pavilion forever and ever. Nothing is sweeter than knowing You, and being known.

Amen.
